Reverend Merrill was elected as a bishop by the United Methodist Church’s South Central Jurisdiction on November 2, 2022, in a historic election for the church. Through the interview, Bishop Merrill speaks about her Southwestern career and how it still impacts her to this day. ABOUT OUR HOST

Guadalupe “Lupe” Sanchez ’23 is a junior majoring in biochemistry at Southwestern University. She currently serves as the I-CORPS intern in the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations. Originally from Venus, Texas, Lupe has been involved on Southwestern’s campus as an EQUIP tutor, SMArT mentor, a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, and as a mentee in the Alumni Network Mentoring Program. Lupe intends to attend medical school after graduating from Southwestern.
