22 President's Council Southwestern University recognizes donors who have given $1,000 or more in fiscal year 2019―2020 as members of the President’s Council. Each President’s Council member is vital to the success of the University and enriches the Southwestern Experience for students. Development KEY PROJECTS FUNDED BY PRESIDENT 'S COUNCIL MEMBERS Fondren―Jones Science Center and Floyd & Annetta Jones Plaza • On October 4, 2019, members of the Southwestern community came together during a joyful ribbon- cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of SU’s state-of-the-art Fondren―Jones Science Center and the Floyd & Annetta Jones Plaza. President Edward B. Burger High-Impact Experience Endowment and President Edward B. Burger Student―Faculty Research in Mathematics Endowment • The Board of Trustees, Board of Visitors, alumni, parents, and friends of the University contributed more than $350,000 to establish two new endowments to recognize the leadership and accomplishments of Presient Ed Burger. Three Term Chairs for Faculty Three Term Professorships for Faculty SU Emergency Fund • Over $91,000 was donated by alumni, parents, and friends to support students with emergency requests for assistance with groceries, rent, utilities, travel home, and technology needs as a result of the economic impact of the pandemic. Endowment • $3,864,000 was donated to the endowment, including a bequest of $626,000 from a member of the class of 1962 to establish an endowed scholarship for descendants of Methodist ministers and Methodist students as well as a gift of $500,000 from a trustee to fund a family scholarship that assists students studying business.
