19 Associate Professor of Mathematics Therese Shelton is a coprincipal investigator on a grant awarded by the National Science Foundation titled “Building Community through Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations (SIMIODE).” Professor of Music Michael Cooper published 56 source-critical, world-premiere editions of compositions by Florence B. Price (1887―1953) in 52 weeks with G. Schirmer/AMP. This work entailed researching and writing forewords for each piece and editing each composition. Assistant Professor of Political Science Emily Sydnor published her first book, Disrespectful Democracy: The Psychology of Political Incivility , with Columbia University Press. Sydnor also received the Craig L. Brians Award for Undergraduate Research and Mentoring from the American Political Science Association. Associate Professor of Communication Studies Bob Bednar ’89 published his book Road Scars: Place, Automobility, and Road Trauma with Rowman & Littlefield. The book, which focuses on roadside car crash shrines, cultural trauma, and American car culture, is based on nearly two decades of fieldwork in the Southwestern U.S. and features 172 original color photographs.
