The first photo was taken in the Ladies’ Annex, an all-female dormitory that stood on campus from1888 to 1925. Beloware a fewof the rules for women living in the Ladies’ Annex: • “Never to leave the Annex campus, except for recitations, unless accompanied by a teacher.” • “Not to correspond with gentlemen, except with the written permission of parents and guardians.” • “To behave in a quiet and lady-like manner inside the Annex building, or church, or on the streets, and in all public places.” • “Not to talk after retiring.” • “To neither borrow or lend wearing apparel or jewelry.” The Ladies’ Annex burned down in 1925 andwas later replacedwith LauraKuykendall Hall and nowBrown– Cody Hall.
